Airbrush Cleaning Kit instructions
Use these tools with airbrush cleaning fluid to keep your airbrush gun spraying smoothly.
• Round #4 brush: Your standard cleaning brush. Dip in cleaning fluid to clean the cup area, nose cone, needle cap, and nozzle
• Magnifying loupe: Makeup loves to hide and small specks matter! Use the loupe to check for tiny clogs in the nozzle or elsewhere in the gun. Also works well for inspecting the gun nozzle for dents and the needle for burrs or a bent tip. All of these things can affect the performance of your airbrush gun.
• Soaking jar: Fill with 1 inch of cleaning fluid and soak gun tip down to loosen any dried makeup
• 5-brush set: The scrubbing brushes! After removing the needle cap, nose cone and nozzle, use the smallest of these brushes, dipped in cleaning fluid, to scrub caked-on makeup from the inside on the gun. With a little work, these can remove the toughest dried on makeup from otherwise impossible-to-clean places.
• Lubricating fluid (makeup remover): Rub on the needle for smooth operation.
How to clean a badly clogged gun
Clogs are, by far, the most common source of airbrush gun malfunctions. A gun does not need to be caked solid with makeup to be clogged either. There is very little room around the airbrush needle, and any little bit of dried makeup that sticks in the tube surrounding it can drastically affect the performance of the gun. If your gun is sputtering badly or not spraying at all, follow these steps to remove the dried makeup and get your gun working properly again.
• Disassemble the gun. Remove the nozzle caps, assembly, and nozzle itself. Pull the needle out of the back, taking care not to bend the tip.
• Use airbrush cleaner and the brushes provided to scrub the dried makeup out of the cup, nozzle, barrel, and anywhere else.
• To loosen stubborn makeup, soak the gun tip down in the soaking jar for a couple hours, or overnight. Continue scrubbing until the brushes are coming out clean.
• Repeat these processes until you can look straight thru the tiny nozzle and the gun barrel and see light on the other side in a nice round circle. Make sure all the fluid is out as this can obscure the view. Once this is accomplished, the gun is clean and can be reassembled. Use the magnifier as needed.
• Lubricate the needle and reassemble the gun, taking care not to damage the needle tip.
